The UPDATED AND EXPANDED Edition of “No Regrets Parenting – Turning Long Days and Short Years into Cherished Moments with Your Kids” is written in 4 parts.
Part 1 lays out the basic principles of No Regrets Parenting, and Part 2 provides specific strategies in the practice of No Regrets Parenting. Each part is important, but you should probably read the first part first. That’s why it’s the first part. And be aware, there may be chapters in Parts 1 and 2 where you say to yourself, “Of course, that’s OBVIOUS!” Or, “That’s so OLD-FASHIONED!” First, what’s obvious or old-fashioned for you won’t be the same as for others. But, even more importantly, the “obvious” and “old-fashioned” tend to be taken for granted and overlooked, so read those chapters as a reminder that obvious and old-fashioned ideas have been time-tested and proven for countless generations of parents and children. They work.
Part 3 then launches you into the exciting (terrifying?) world of parenting adult kids, while Part 4 braces you for the new challenges of your kids having kids. So, parents should pass this book along to their own parents who should start with Part 4, “No Regrets Grandparenting.” Then they can work their way back for great activity ideas with their grandkids. Whereas the first edition of this book often found its way from grandparents to their adult kids, hoping to nudge them toward better parenting time management, with this second edition, the flow of the book can go in both directions.
And remember, this is not a “how-to-parent” or “how to grandparent” book. It’s a book about how to make the most of your time with your kids, from crib through canopy and beyond.
